America's Spine

America's Spine

The ridge along the top of this mountain is a portion of the continental divide, the line that seperates the North American continent into two completely seperate watersheds. All the water to the left side of the ridge eventually flows into the Atlantic Ocean, while all the water on the right side flows into the Pacific Ocean. Also of note is that the snow visible to the left is part of Grinnell Glacier. This is without a doubt one of my favorite photographs from my recent trip to Glacier National Park.
